Production - Day Four
Attendees:
Sam, Sierra and Brittany
Sam and Sierra started to create the script. Will need to put in what type of shots and music portions during editing. The dialogue is there. The concept remains the same but we added a little bit more to it. Brittany/Sam came up with the slogan "Be the solution, not the problem."
Props needed for weekend shoot:
- regular chemical cleaning supplies
- one seventh generation product
Here is the script that Sami finished, edit where you lovely ladies see fit (the word document has the bold/italic face font):
"Greening the Chemicals at Champlain and at Home: Be the solution, not the problem!”
SCENE #1: WIDE SHOT- SAMANTHA AND SIERRA INSIDE APARTMENT . SAMANTHA DOING HOMEWORK WHILE SIERRA CLEANS. ZOOM CAMERA FORWARD.
Humming.
Sami: (Coughing)
Sierra: (Looking concerned) Are you okay?
SCENE # 2: CUT TO CLOSE UP OF SAM.
Sami: Yeah, just all of those cleaning products really bother me.
SCENE # 3: CUT TO CLOSE UP OF SIERRA.
Sierra: Oh my gosh I am so sorry, but it is gross if we don’t clean the apartment!
SCENE # 4: CUT TO SHOT OF GIRLS IN APARTMENT.
Music starts.

SCENE # 7: CUT TO WIDE SHOT.
Music playing.
Sami: Yeah I can’t stand the cleaning products Sierra is using. They make me cough!
Cleaning fairy: Oh really, are you using chemical cleaning products?
Sierra: Of course, isn’t that the only way you can clean a house?
SCENE # 8: CLOSE UP OF FAIRY.
Music playing.
Cleaning fairy: What you girls may not realize is that the chemical cleaners are causing air pollution. This indoor air pollution has many sources.
SCENE # 9: TEXT ON SCREEN.
Music playing.
Text: A wide variety of household cleaners and products like window and all purpose cleaners contain toxic materials called volatile organic compounds that are designed to quickly evaporate into the air to aid drying. Other common sources of indoor air pollution are aerosol sprays and air fresheners.
SCENE # 10: IMAGE OF A HOUSE ON SCREEN.
Music continues to play.
Cleaning fairy (vo): According the Environmental Protection Agency, the air inside the average home is typically 2 to 5 times more polluted than the air just outside its walls.
SCENE # 11: TEXT APPEARS ON SCREEN.
Music continuing to play.
Text: The average household contains anywhere from 3 to 25 gallons of toxic materials, most of which are hiding in the cleaners we use.
• Americans generate over 38 million tons of hazardous waste per year.
• An EPA study concluded that the toxic chemicals in household cleaners are 3 times more likely to cause cancer than outdoor air.
SCENE #12: WIDE SHOT- SAMANTHA, SIERRA, AND FAIRY SITTING BY LAKE CHAMPLAIN.
Music stops.
Sami: Wow I had no clue that chemical cleaning products harm our health, and also the environment!
Sierra: So what can we use to clean the house?
SCENE #13 : ZOOM SHOT CLOSER TO GROUP.

Sierra: So all it takes is switching over from chemical cleaners to natural cleaners?
Cleaning fairy: Exactly!
SCENE #14 : TEXT ON SCREEN.

"Greening the Chemicals at Champlain and at Home"
We want students to take a look at the cleaning agents in their dorms and at school and decide whether or not they are green. Our goal is to try to convince students to replace the cleaning agents in their dorms or apartments with eco-friendly cleaners. Eco-friendly cleaners are not only good for the environment, but good for you.
